Brave baby bobtail squids left Earth's gravity this
morning on board Space Shuttle Endeavour's final flight.
The intrepid cephalopods,
Euprymna scolope (to be precise),
will be exposed to bacteria to determine how well
they 'uptake' bacteria. This experiment will help scientists
understand how human bodies interrelate
with bacteria in weightless
conditions.
After the experiment, all life
functions of the squids will be terminated.
