The 400-Foot High Lisbon Tsunami

It followed a cataclysmic 9.0 earthquake on November 1, 1755.

60,000 or more died.

The quake happened on a Sunday.
Many saw it as a sign of God's wrath, thus
bringing into question the authority of the church.

The event changed world history,
greatly sapping Portugal's imperial ambitions.
