Robert Altman, Warrior and Tough Guy

Hard to believe but the anti-establishment movie director Robert "M*A*S*H" Altman flew nearly 50 combat missions as the co-pilot of a B-24 Liberator bomber during World War II.

All before he was 21.

And, as if that's not all, he had a heart transplant at the age of 70 and kept it a secret for about 10 years.
