the Secretary of War Elihu Root heard rumors that Taft was ill.
He sent a cable asking if the President was well.
Taft replied that he was.
Taft added that he'd just come back from a 25 mile trip on horseback.
Upon reading this, Root sent the following cable:
"How is horse?"
